He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Tragic Event
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.
Gatherings across the state have been held in their honor.
Presidential Call
The president stated he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president told the press. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Response
Attendees gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support law enforcement in DC.
Honoring Beckstrom
“She was the type of pupil that educators desired. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to help others.”
Service arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Steps and Government Revisions
Officials have charged a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while armed.
The incident prompted the administration to suspend asylum processing and halt granting visas to owners of Afghan passports.
Status of the Airman
The airman, a resident of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.
He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor the governor mentioned on television.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Memory of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with distinction, as stated by the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had courage,” he addressed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
