Specialists Detect Kremlin Intimidation Strategy Targeting Tomahawk Use

Moscow is implementing a “reflexive control” operation of warnings to prevent the America from supplying precision-guided weapons to Kyiv, as reported by military analysts. A high-ranking Russian lawmaker declared: “We know these missiles very well, their flight patterns, how to shoot them down, we worked on them in Syria, so there is nothing new. Only those who supply them and those who use them will face consequences … We will find ways to damage those who cause us trouble.”

Ukraine's Military Push Progress

Ukrainian forces were imposing substantial damage in a military operation in eastern Donetsk region, the war's main theatre, Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on midweek. Zelenskyy's assessment, based on a report by his top commander, contradicted the Russian president's address to defense leadership a prior day in which he asserted the invading army maintained the military advantage in all frontline sectors.

Based on evaluation from the beginning of October, conflict monitors said Russia was experiencing substantial casualties, particularly from drone strikes by Ukraine, in compensation of limited tactical advances. Ukrainian forces, the president stated, were “defending ourselves along multiple fronts”, mentioning particularly the Kupiansk area, a largely destroyed urban area in Ukraine's northeast under sustained offensive operations for several months.

Local Conditions

The regional governor in southern Ukraine of the Kherson oblast said Russian attacks on midweek killed three people in and around the city of the oblast center. Administrative officials of northern Sumy, on the northern border with neighboring Russia, said three fatalities occurred in unmanned aerial strikes in multiple locations. Ukrainian aerial defense said it neutralized or disrupted 154 out of 183 attack and decoy UAVs through the evening.

Military action significantly harmed one of Ukraine's thermal power plants, officials reported on Wednesday. Two employees were injured in the attack, as reported by industry sources. Officials offered no further information, about the facility's position, but Ukrainian authorities said Russia struck critical utilities in Ukraine's northern Chernihiv, southern Kherson and south-eastern Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Public Effects

In the northern Ukrainian city of the Shostka area, hit hard by the Russian onslaught against the electrical grid, local government has established temporary shelters where civilians are able to find shelter, access hot drinks, charge their phones and obtain emotional assistance, as reported by administrative leader.

International Reactions

Ukraine's ambassador to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on midweek encouraged NATO members to accelerate procurement of American military equipment for Kyiv. “This doesn't mean we favor United States armaments over allied or some other European weapons – the reality is that we require the America for weapons which European countries don't possess,” said the ambassador.

Federal law enforcement will shortly receive authorization to neutralize drones, interior minister announced on Wednesday, after a spate of unmanned aircraft incidents suspected as Russian efforts to gather intelligence and deter. Announcing legal changes, the representative said police would be authorized “to take sophisticated countermeasures against drone threats, for example with EMP technology, jamming, navigation system disruption, but also with direct interception”.

European Defense Challenges

EU chief declared on Wednesday that EU nations need to enhance its protective capabilities to counter Moscow's multifaceted attacks in response to airspace breaches, digital assaults and damage to undersea cables. “This doesn't represent random harassment. This represents a coherent and escalating campaign,” the leader said in a speech to the EU legislative body. “Several occurrences are random chance, but three, five, ten – this constitutes a planned and specific hybrid threat strategy against EU nations, and European countries should answer.”

Displacement Conditions

The Swiss government has prolonged its temporary shelter provided to people fleeing Ukraine to at least March 2027. Protection status S, which allows people to travel abroad as well as seek employment there, is typically restricted to a single year but can be renewed. “The decision shows the persistent dangerous conditions and persistent Russian attacks across large parts of Ukraine,” said a Swiss government statement. “Regardless of international peace efforts, a permanent peace that would enable safe return is not expected in the coming years.”
