Iran Reports Strike on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is unclear and the US has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have shot down missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
