Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent action-packed game that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for celebrating action and madness with equal glee, all while weaving gripping, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two visionaries whose projects have exemplified all of those qualities.

Show Details

Based on Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' style by having a new location and cast of characters in every instalment.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the creator.

“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family constantly supports me with their constant trust and support.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone show. Every title is a variation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To create a big action show that can evolve from season to season, while always examining the nature of society through this intricate and unpredictable viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and introduce our mutual unconventional, ambitious sensibility to the audience.”

A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
