Homages Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt ready to express about his deep grief.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began passing more hours together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the film, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without mirth".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a distinct essay, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to bar the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the local authorities.
A court order placed a security hold on the cases to limit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of foul play, with a public database citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the killings, public figures offered varying responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making provocative claims that were widely condemned by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the critics recently. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan labeled the statements as "disturbing" and implied they demonstrated a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an adviser could have intervened when the impulse to speak on the death was made.
