Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the initial names in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday following the team's 10-match without a victory start to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore both candidates - each of whom have historic links to the club - are part of the options to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a potential hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the former Luton manager - who made over a century of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is considered a strong candidate for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves directors as they start the search of hiring a fresh head coach.

O'Neil is additionally emerging as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising choice given he was sacked by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not need to provide any buyout fee.
