Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for concerns to be raised about his position following a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the club's worst streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received plenty of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win of course but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Response

The manager lamented familiar weaknesses from his team in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a spell of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to where it needs to be, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
